East Coast Railway drive against spitting - The New Indian Express
East Coast Railway (ECoR) has launched a massive awareness campaign on cleanliness and collected over Rs 3.36 lakh as fine from those caught spitting and littering  at railway premises.
As part of the cleanliness and anti-spitting drive in ECoR jurisdiction since December 16, 2012, altogether 4,945 persons have been fined so far for spitting and littering at Railway premises recently in 75 days of implementation of Indian Railways Rule, 2012 for spitting and littering.
An amount of Rs 3,36,950 had also been collected as fine from the persons who have spitted and littered at Railway premises, ECoR sources said.
Spitting and littering entails a fine of Rs 100 at ‘A1’ Class stations like Bhubaneswar, Puri and Visakhapatnam, Rs 50 at ‘A’ Class stations like Bhadrak, Brahmapur, Cuttack, Jajpur-Keonjhar Road, Khurda Road, Palasa, Rayagada, Srikakulam Road, Vizianagaram and Sambalpur and Rs  30 will be charged at rest of the stations under East Coast Railway jurisdiction.
The fine may be doubled shortly with a view to stop spitting and littering, sources said.
